Rigorous Play & Whimsical Work: a metaLAB workshop explored the elements of whimsy and surprise in the creative process, incorporating playfulness, chance, and the value of constraints. Designed as a fast-paced, hands-on session at Harvard’s ArtLab, students explored new forms of collaboration, working with physical materials to give shape to big ideas.

This workshop is led by Sarah Newman, Director of Art & Education, Principal metaLAB at Harvard. Newman works on the social and cultural implications of new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and human-machine interactions, through creative workshops and interactive art.

Supported by the Elson Family Arts Initiative Fund this workshop has been designed for the Lemann Program on Creativity & Entrepreneurship course LPCE 101: StudioLab.
