Musician and Professor of the Practice esperanza spalding has transformed an ArtLab studio into the Songwrights’ Apothecary Lab to teach the Music 170 course. During this student performance, songs created during the Spring semester 2022 will be shared.
esperanza spalding’s Songwrights Apothecary Lab at the ArtLab has been supported by GSD design student Olani Ewunnet and music composition Ph.D. Chris Lock. esperanza spalding is a Professor of the Practice in the Music Department at Harvard.

Part songwriting workshop, part guided research practice, the Songwrights’ Apothecary Lab offers a structure for the collaborative development of new compositions designed to enhance listeners’ therapeutic benefit. This course was held at the ArtLab during the Spring 2022 semester in collaboration with the Harvard University Department of Music.
